Cornwall, the perfect mini-moon destination in the UK
More couples are choosing to combine their gay wedding and mini honeymoon together, and there is no better place than here in Cornwall to do both. A minimoon is a fantastic solution if you still want to have a short break with your new partner straight after your wedding. The great thing is that when your mini-moon is over, you’ll still have your honeymoon to look forward to!
Celebrant- Led Ceremonies
Legalities
Lots of gay couples choose to have a celebrant-led ceremony. Your wedding celebrant will tell
the story of your relationship, share short stories and make your ceremony so much more
personal. You’ll have the legal part (your marriage) before your wedding day (the fun part) at a
registry office near you prior to departure and then your independent celebrant will lead your
symbolic ceremony anywhere you like in Cornwall, either out in nature for a truly unique
experience or in one of our recommended small wedding venues.
With the law regarding gay marriage evolving all the time, it’s important that you recognise
whether your marriage is legal (Registrar) or if it’s just a symbolic ceremony (Celebrant) . A
civil marriage performed by a Registrar gives you the same rights as a religious marriage in the eyes of the law, but the ceremony is different. Check your local Registry office to find out more.

If you are having a celebrant-led wedding and want to say your vows in nature we have so many wonderful dramatic locations for you to choose from. You can say your vows under the stars, on a secret beach, a dramatic cliff, in a sea cave, at the edge of a tidal pool or in an ancient site. The possibilities are endless and you will have something truly unique and magical.

Nature
Adventure
Explore Cornwall's beautiful scenery for your outdoor wedding. Our favourite outdoor locations are sea caves, Cornish mines, cliff castles, rugged cliffs, secret coves and long white sandy beaches.

Personal touches
Write Your Own Vows
Personalised vows are a wonderful way of saying what your love and marriage mean to you. Discuss it with your officiant first to find out what your Licensed venue allows (some registry offices may be stricter). Exchanging vows that come from the heart are a beautiful moment in a ceremony. If you’re having a celebrant-led ceremony, you’ll be able to share any words you want. No rules, regulations or restrictions!

REAL COUPLES
Faye & Harri

Harri and I have never been professionally photographed before. As much as we (well I) like to think I am a model or a celebrity, I’m not and so the thought of an up close and personal engagement shoot was somewhat daunting for us both. There are big differences between taking a nice photo and taking a professional portrait, and we were very nervous that our photographer would probably ask us to do some things for photos that might make us feel a bit silly at the time. The great thing about our engagement shoot was that it got us used to the slightly awkward stuff, whilst at the same time it also gave us the proof that in the pictures, it looks amazing. There's nothing like photographic evidence to help overcome any nervous feelings - particularly if you don't enjoy having your picture taken. We spent a good three hours with Jo on a beautiful deserted beach in Cornwall using the time to get used to the process and working out all those awkward kinks; by the end of the session we were feeling relaxed and the outcome was photos that look fab. We couldn’t be happier with the results and can’t wait to work with Jo & Patrick on our special day later in
the year.

intimate cornwall Elopement - Bhav & Lars
When we first started to plan our wedding, we knew we wanted to keep it both small and intimate, without any fuss or stress involved. It was important for us to elope a place where we would feel connected to nature, away from all the hustle and bustle of London, and Cornwall thus seemed to be the obvious choice. We loved every second of our beautiful Cornish elopement, with Storm Ciara serving the perfect backdrop for our wedding pictures. We are so happy we chose Jo and Patrick to be our wedding photographers. We first came across their work their Instagram page and immediately knew we wanted them to photograph our elopement. They both show a tremendous passion for their work, and we couldn't have been any happier with how the pictures turned out!
Connected to nature, away from the hustle and bustle
Why did you opt for an elopement wedding?

Kean and I have been together for ten years or so now and over the years, always knew we would tie the knot one day. With family and friends spread across Malaysia, Singapore and the UK, the practicality of bringing everyone together was always going to be challenging and neither of us are big party people. What mattered most for us was making the commitment to each other and doing that somewhere really special, beautiful and intimate!
Why did you choose Cornwall?

Kean grew up beside the sea, in a small fishing village in Penang in Malaysia. He also first met my family ten years ago, on a family holiday in St Ives. West Cornwall too has always held a really special place in all my family’s hearts. It’s where we spent the most idyllic holidays in the sea and the surf when we were growing up. With another Cornish holiday already booked for September, getting hitched in a small and intimate way beside the sea and back in Cornwall ten years later, instantly felt perfect and so special for both of us!
What are your favourite memories?

With just a few family members present, the whole day was just really joyful, intimate, relaxing and so much fun! Being fortunate enough to have Patrick and Jo capture the magic of the day and a beautiful sunset shoot on the spectacular Gwithian Towans truly was a highlight! We feel completely blessed to have such beautiful memories of a perfect day! Thank you Jo and Patrick so, so much…you both really are absolutely awesome!
